Quran 4:25An-Nisaa, verse 25

If any of you does not have the means to marry a believing free woman, then marry a believing slave- God knows best [the depth of] your faith: you are [all] part of the same family- so marry them with their people’s consent and their proper bride-gifts. [Make them] married women, not adulteresses or lovers. If they commit adultery when they are married, their punishment will be half that of free women. This is for those of you who fear that you will sin; it is better for you to practise selfrestraint. God is most forgiving and merciful,

وَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنْكُمْ طَوْلًا أَنْ يَنْكِحَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ فَمِنْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ مِنْ فَتَيَاتِكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَانِكُمْ ۚ بَعْضُكُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ ۚ فَانْكِحُوهُنَّ بِإِذْنِ أَهْلِهِنَّ وَآتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ مُحْصَنَاتٍ غَيْرَ مُسَافِحَاتٍ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَاتِ أَخْدَانٍ ۚ فَإِذَا أُحْصِنَّ فَإِنْ أَتَيْنَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ فَعَلَيْهِنَّ نِصْفُ مَا عَلَى الْمُحْصَنَاتِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ الْعَنَتَ مِنْكُمْ ۚ وَأَنْ تَصْبِرُوا خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ

waman lam yastaṭiʿ minkum ṭawlan an yankiḥa l-muḥ'ṣanāti l-mu'mināti famin mā malakat aymānukum min fatayātikumu l-mu'mināti wal-lahu aʿlamu biīmānikum baʿḍukum min baʿḍin fa-inkiḥūhunna bi-idh'ni ahlihinna waātūhunna ujūrahunna bil-maʿrūfi muḥ'ṣanātin ghayra musāfiḥātin walā muttakhidhāti akhdānin fa-idhā uḥ'ṣinna fa-in atayna bifāḥishatin faʿalayhinna niṣ'fu mā ʿalā l-muḥ'ṣanāti mina l-ʿadhābi dhālika liman khashiya l-ʿanata minkum wa-an taṣbirū khayrun lakum wal-lahu ghafūrun raḥīmun

23فَٱنكِحُوهُنَّfa-inkiḥūhunnaSo marry themنكح
24بِإِذْنِbi-idh'niwith (the) permissionأذن
25أَهْلِهِنَّahlihinna(of) their familyأهل
26وَءَاتُوهُنَّwaātūhunnaand give themأتي
27أُجُورَهُنَّujūrahunnatheir bridal dueأجر
28بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerعرف
29مُحْصَنَـٰتٍmuḥ'ṣanātin(They should be) chasteحصن
30غَيْرَghayranotغير
31مُسَـٰفِحَـٰتٍۢmusāfiḥātinthose who commit immoralityسفح
32وَلَاwalāand not
33مُتَّخِذَٰتِmuttakhidhātithose who takeأخذ
34أَخْدَانٍۢ ۚakhdāninsecret loversخدن
35فَإِذَآfa-idhāThen when
36أُحْصِنَّuḥ'ṣinnathey are marriedحصن
37فَإِنْfa-inand if
38أَتَيْنَataynathey commitأتي
39بِفَـٰحِشَةٍۢbifāḥishatinadulteryفحش
40فَعَلَيْهِنَّfaʿalayhinnathen for them
41نِصْفُniṣ'fu(is) halfنصف
42مَا(of) what
43عَلَىʿalā(is) on
44ٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتِl-muḥ'ṣanātithe free chaste womenحصن
