Quran 47:37 — Muhammad, verse 37

you would be grudging if He were to ask you and press you for them, and He would bring your ill-will to light-
إِنْ يَسْأَلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُوا وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَانَكُمْ
in yasalkumūhā fayuḥ'fikum tabkhalū wayukh'rij aḍghānakum

- If He asks you for them, and presses you, you are niggardly, and He brings to light your rancour.

- [for,] if He were to demand of you all of them, and urge you, you would niggardly cling [to them], and so He would [but] bring out your moral failings.

- If He should ask you for them and press you, you would withhold, and He would expose your hatred [i.e., unwillingness].
