Quran 8:57 — Al-Anfaal, verse 57

If you meet them in battle, make a fearsome example of them to those who come after them, so that they may take heed.
فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِمْ مَنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
fa-immā tathqafannahum fī l-ḥarbi fasharrid bihim man khalfahum laʿallahum yadhakkarūna

- So, if thou comest upon them anywhere in the war, deal with them in such wise as to scatter the ones behind them; haply they will remember.

- if thou find them at war [with you], make of them a fearsome example for those who follow them, so that they might take it to heart;
