but Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger and so We inflicted a heavy punishment on him.
فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ الرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَاهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا
faʿaṣā fir'ʿawnu l-rasūla fa-akhadhnāhu akhdhan wabīlan
