Quran 61:5 — As-Saff, verse 5
M. A. S. Abdel Haleem · selected translation
Moses said to his people, ‘My people, why do you hurt me when you know that I am sent to you by God?’ When they went astray, God left their hearts to stray: God does not guide rebellious people.
wa-idh qāla mūsā liqawmihi yāqawmi lima tu'dhūnanī waqad taʿlamūna annī rasūlu l-lahi ilaykum falammā zāghū azāgha l-lahu qulūbahum wal-lahu lā yahdī l-qawma l-fāsiqīna

- Now when Moses spoke to his people, [it was this same truth that he had in mind:] "O my people! Why do you cause me grief, the while you know that I am an apostle of God sent unto you?" And so, when they swerved from the right way, God let their hearts swerve from the truth: for God does not bestow His guidance upon iniquitous folk.

- And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, why do you harm me while you certainly know that I am the messenger of Allāh to you?" And when they deviated, Allāh caused their hearts to deviate. And Allāh does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
