Directed seeking: turning attention or effort toward finding, obtaining, or attaining something, whether concrete or abstract.

From the basic notion of seeking arise the seeker and the sought object, requests and demands, assistance in fulfilling a request, and derived descriptions of things made remote or difficult to reach and therefore requiring pursuit.
