Quranic root

زبر

z · b · r

The root develops two principal semantic orientations: fastening or strengthening something, and writing or reading.

The concrete sense of strengthening by stonework extends to firmness, bodily bulk, and collected masses; the other branch concerns writing, written books, and reading. Several later figurative and specialized uses arise from these two orientations.
