Quranic root
ثرب
th · r · b
The root contains two lexically independent branches: reproach or charging someone with wrongdoing, and the thin layer of fat covering the stomach and intestines of a ruminant.
The reproach branch yields تَثْرِيبٌ, especially the Quranic denial of blame. The bodily branch yields the noun ثَرْبٌ and related uses for removing or acquiring this fat, as well as several derived descriptions.

Cautions
Points that affect how this root should be read.
The sole Quranic occurrence is a verbal noun in the fixed expression لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ; the bodily and other derived uses are broader Classical Arabic evidence, not additional Quranic attestations.
The Quranic construction has reported interpretive emphases on both the denial of reproach and the denial of harm or mention of offenses.
Unassigned or ambiguous evidence
A reported Lane sense equating تَثْرِيبٌ with building or casing a well is left unassigned because the passage itself suspects a transcription error for تَثْوِيبٌ.
The Mufradat discussion tentatively connects يَا أَهْلَ يَثْرِبَ in 33:13 to this root by treating the initial yāʾ as extra; no supplied QAC form or secure lexical assignment permits presenting this as a Quranic root sense.
